During the Kadamba reign, King Vijayendra, the ruler of the fictional feudatory land of Bangra, meets his final fate while venturing into the mystical forest of Kantara. Witnessing this, his son Rajashekara seals the borders of their realm. Later, Prince Kulashekara reopens them through a brutal massacre. The protagonist, Berme, in search of prosperity, crosses the divide and ignites a conflict of faith, power, and destiny between the Kingdom and Nature.

Berme lives in a jungle among villagers who worship the daiva. The kingdom of Bangra is located nearby and it is ruled by Rajashekhar. As a child, he had witnessed his father being killed when he tried to usurp the land of the jungle residents and also the power of the daiva. Hence, he had a strict policy that his army shouldn’t venture into the forest and harass its residents. But when his son Kulshekhar turns king, he makes several changes in the policy. He goes for a hunt in the forest. His army senses the presence of a divine being and they run away. Berme is angry with the king for his actions. He infiltrates the kingdom and causes chaos. This is when he comes across Kanakavathi, the sister of Kulshekhar. Kanakavathi and Berme develop a soft spot for each other. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

The story is set many years before the events of the 2022 film. King Vijayendra crowns Kulasekhar as the next ruler, but Kulasekhar is unfit to lead. In contrast, his sister Kanakavathi is intelligent and perceptive. In the nearby Kantara region, only the local tribes are permitted to roam; even kings have no authority there. Berme, the leader of the Kantara people, impresses Kanakavathi with his strength, wins her admiration, and secures permission for his people to trade at the Bandar Port. Circumstances soon take a dark turn when Kulasekhar vows to dominate the Kantara tribe and kills many villagers, including Berme’s mother. This unleashes another side of Berme, as he becomes possessed by various deities. But someone close betrays him in his quest. Who is that traitor?
