During their Tuscan vacation, Danish couple Bjørn and Louise and their daughter Agnes meet Dutch couple Patrick and Karin, whose son Abel was born without a tongue. Weeks later, the Danes accept an invitation to the Dutch couple’s remote rural home. After an eight-hour drive, they arrive. Over the first two days, Louise grows uneasy due to the hosts’ passive-aggressive behavior Patrick ignores her vegetarianism, mistreats Abel, and Karin frequently swears.
